Day 8

3/4/2016

4 short days- yet they seemed like so much more. These days were full of opportunities to present the gospel to the military and police. It was amazing to see the connection that the Sumner's have made with these soldiers, cadets, etc. While some who have been privileged to participate in a SENT trip (or any short term mission trip for that matter) think they are the epitome of sacrifice and service; I must call to our attention that anywhere there is a short term effort there is a founded work where someone has labored long-term faithfully. Such is the case here in Honduras. The Sumner family has blazed the trail that many have now walked down and followed in presenting the gospel to the military of this country. While I believe the Lord will bless the efforts of every sincere heart that labors for Him via short term missions; I can't help but wonder what the reward will be for those who truly give their lives on the foreign field. Not that they give their lives in death, but in service- faithfully, day after day. While talking with Pastor Alan Sumner, he expressed his amazement at how far God has brought them and the doors he has opened for them in over 26 years on the field. God works for people who work for him. My heart is challenged to give my life. I may not have to die for the cause of Christ, but I want to LIVE for it!

Busy week yielded great results. We saw great responses and it was truly amazing. I do not have an exact count but there were at least 25-30 total I saw come forward for salvation. What a wonderful experience.

1st Engineer Battalion- Siguatepeque, Honduras CA
We entered the base to begin our final service for the day. Bro Scott Sumner was conversing with a missionary in Mexico named Larry Landeres. Bro. Larry was communicating his concern for an issue he was facing. He was attempting to hold a tent crusade but his chairs for his meeting and a bundle of Bibles had been seized at the border of Mexico and were being held. He had been charged multiple times for their release and had still not received them for over 2 weeks. He was afraid he would not get them in time for his meeting. We stopped immediately and began praying as a group for God to intervene in this situation. Who knows - maybe God brought us to this place just so we could help pray and watch God move in this situation and work a miracle...only time will tell.

Day 3

AM Service -
The group split up to teach different classes. I was privileged to teach the adult Sunday school. Here, I began to feel the barrier begin to dissipate.

Sunday PM (Final Night of Revival) -
Bro. Jeff was lined up to preach. We arrived considerably earlier to service so there was a good space to spend some time in prayer. As a group, we began to seek the Lord for the service and the presence of the Lord could be felt. Bro. Jeff preached and in his message he shared his own personal testimony. At the altar call, the response was tremendous as several came forward to receive salvation. After the altar service, there was a testimony service in which many great testimonies were shared. One man expressed his desire to be filled with the Holy Ghost and a determination to keep seeking Him! A sister shared about a healing she received Friday night during the altar service when Sis. Lisa laid a hand on her. She was experiencing tremendous shoulder pain. (I speak as a fool, but during my message I felt led several times to mention healing in my message.) As soon as Lisa laid her hand on her shoulder, the pain left! Only eternity will tell the entirety of the results but we saw the faithfulness of God without a doubt, during our revival!

Revival Night 2 -

Now the ice was broken and a little more liberty was felt. (At least for me, personally) The group sang and testified and Bro. Jacob Hurst preached the best I've ever heard him preach. It was amazing to see the anointing at work as it rested on him. This was definitely a different Jacob than I knew! Again, an awesome altar service.

Day 1

Tegucigalpa Honduras Central America

I was told that Teguc had one of the most dangerous runways in the world so I was a little jumpy as we touched down. After going through customs, we were met by Bro. Alan Sumner who helped us load our luggage and took us to the mall in Teguc to have our first meal. We ate at Coco Baleadas which was my first taste of Honduran food. Delicious! We then had a bumpy 2 hour ride back to the Sumner's home - funnest ride ever! It was so invigorating to be stepping beyond the border of anything I've ever attempted in ministry.

Revival Night 1 -
My nerves were shot as this was my first mission trip ever, as well as my first time to preach with an interpreter. I wished I could have preached so much better than I did. The language barrier was a big hindrance to me, personally. I felt I could not connect with the congregation. However, the Lord was faithful and the altar service was tremendous and the Lord truly blessed and helped.
