We had an awesome service this morning at the local police station with a few military police that were present as well. We ate at Milay, a favorite local restaurant of ours. I spent just a bit helping out at the church getting ready for kids' crusade and then I went with the crew back home for a while. First night went pretty good, we are expecting a larger crowd tomorrow night and organizing things just a bit better, I am looking forward to a successful second night. Goodnight to all!
Today was a little bit different in that we only had one military service. One of the commanders told us there was close to 400 in attendance this morning! I got a video of the men breaking out of formation and running to the bleachers to get a seat, it was awesome! A message was preached about Jesus being our Great Shepherd and we are the sheep of His pasture. Bro. Hough used a large stick to show what a shepherd did when guiding the sheep. My family and I were able to see an officer that we have known for several years, we were glad to catch up with him. After the service, the commander of that base (3rd artillery battalion), wanted to talk to all of our group. He had my dad interpret and told us of how he had the privilege of being a soldier twice; first, in the Lord's army and secondly, in the armed forces of Honduras. He thanked us for coming and welcomed us back as soon as we could return.
On our way home, we stopped and ate at my favorite restaurant that served fried fish:) It tasted amazing and ate more than I should have. Bro. Hough, James and Daniel ate their fish's eyeballs! And James topped it all with eating it's brain! We got back on the road and reached home 5 hours later. We made it home just safely and I'm going to try to get to bed early tonight. Wow! It was so nice to be able to sleep in some this morning:) We left our hotel at 7:00 a.m. And our first service was a half hour later with the police and special forces. Later on there was a ceremony about to begin at the Air force academy, they wanted Dad to speak to them and share the Word of God with the men waiting. He talked to them about guarding their hearts above all else. My parents had to run some errands and we took advantage of the time and caught up on some rest. The Lord moved in the services throughout the day, one notable and memorable place was back at the Air Force academy, but this time for service. Bro. Hough preached a message about being bound and then how to be set free from the old man of sin and death. At the end, the altar call was given and 12 men came forward to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior! It was an unforgettable experience, I thank God that He still moves on the hearts and lives of men who are hungry for Him.
They had lunch for us and it was delicious as always and we all were quite full as we left the base. It's been a great day and I'm so thankful to get to be a part of what The Lord is doing for men and women across the country. Good night and God bless! 3:30 a.m. came all too quick as we woke and prepared to leave on what we call "busy week" this morning at 4:00. I'm pretty sure everyone but the driver (I hope!) was asleep a short time later. We began this week of services off at the tactical battalion with a very good size crowd and the Spirit of The Lord moved as different ones testified, sang and Bro. Hough preached. We were scheduled to have 5 more services at various battalions and bases, but we ended up having only 4 more. We stopped for ice cream at a Mennonite bookstore on the way to our last service. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, but Heather still can't get over the fact that we ate 'Mennonite' 'ice cream' in 'Honduras'! I guess she wasn't expecting that experience:) After the conclusion of our last service at the Engineer battalion, we were invited to eat supper in the officers' dining hall. We have been on the road for a while now and I believe our hotel isn't too far away. The present entertainment is James Hardy teaching Bro. Hough our Spanish songs and telling tall tales. I hope bed time comes soon because those of us who are awake are getting slap happy and this might not be good! Haha Goodnight from San Pedro Sula, Honduras:)
