Day 5

2/28/2014

Today all of us got to go to a police station and minister together for the first time. It was a great service. After the service was over all of us went to eat breakfast. You could tell by the sweet welcome and the hugs that were passed around from the workers that this place was often visited by the Sumner family.  After we had all finished eating our breakfast, we got the opportunity to do a little shopping for knifes, then it was off to gather supplies, food and beginning to prepare the church for Kid's Crusade that was starting tonight.

The first night of Kid's Crusade and "Defenders of the Faith" is the theme and tonight’s topic is salvation. I got to ride on the bus to pick up all of the kids and also many adults and teens as well. It is an experience I will never forget as each little girl who stepped on the bus gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek and the boys would shake my hand. They were so sweet and even though there was a language barrier that did not stop us from playing rock, paper, scissors and other little games like it.

Once the service was coming to a close it was amazing to see how even the adults and older children got in the altars as well as the smaller children. This is something you don’t see in even the States, but they were hungry. It was so great that age did not make a difference to them or to God. It was great to see and it was something I will also never forget about my trip.

Day 4

2/27/2014

Today was a traveling day back to the Sumner’s home for both the South and the North groups. As we traveled, we made a few stops to minister on the way home. The first service of the day was at communication. It was a great service. It is amazing to see how the Lord will touch people in these services and to see the response of the men and women.

Later on that day, some of us girls came back with Sis. Sumner to help prepare supper. It was my first time in a store down here in Honduras. It was a bit different seeing the prices for thing and trying to convert them to how much that would be in America dollars.  It is a lot easier to comprehend their money and how to pay for things than what I thought it was going to be.

Everyone was back together for supper tonight and it felt a little wired being all together again but it did not take us long to get  back in the grove of being around one another again. Tomorrow night is the first night of Kid’s Crusade. I’m so excited to see what God will do.

Day 3

2/26/2014

Much needed sleep was accomplished last light after we got to are hotel and went to our separate rooms.  The food and internet access from McDonald was very nice.  A call to home was an added bonus that I did not know that I was going to have. Being in the capital was very nice, and we were blessed with very good weather - not to hot and not to cold - just right.

The first service of the day, only the guys on the south team went but the second was at a place where the men and woman that where there were the 1st responders. The third was at a police academy. The ground’s of the academy were very beautiful and nice.  After the service we got to take a picture with the whole academy which was very nice. The third was a military base, there was a lot more people there and the way they participated in the service was very exciting.  They sang so loud and got into the service more than any other that I have been in so far. We met a woman there and got to talk to her; she told us that the testimony and preaching were for her and that every time that Bro. Alan preached it was something for her. It was encouraging to know that the words that we had spoken were helping and touching her heart. We took a few pictures with her. She was very sweet and gave us food and some Pepsi to drink on our way back to the hotel.

Day 2

2/25/2014

I’m on the South team which includes Bro. Alan and his wife, Bro. Pahlman, Rachel, Ruthy, Roada, Sis. Amanda. Jacob, John, Tabatha, Lisa and I.  We were the first group to leave the Sumner’s home. We left around 3:00 a.m. to begin the journey.

The first place we went to was the police station. It was amazing to see just how God has opened the doors for the Sumner family to preach the gospel. When we got to where we were going to be ministering, all of the police men and woman were waiting to hear the gospel. It was such an honor and privilege to be able it have just a small part in what God is doing here in Honduras.

The last stop of the day was on Tagu Island at the Navy. It was so beautiful and it was an experience I will never forget. After the service we got to go to the beach and went into a bat cave. Riding around in a motto taxi was a fun thing to experience as well, as we passed homes children would wave and smile.

We ended the day with dinner on the side of the road. It was one of the best meals of my life. You will probably be hearing that a lot. The foods hear is amazing and very different than what I expected. It was a great way to end a long day.

Day 1

2/24/2014

It is not the easiest thing to convey exactly how it felt to land in Danli, as the plain tittered from side to side and landed with more than a few bumps. When we landed the cockpit filled with the sound of clapping for the pilot, which we were told was a common occurrence for landing in Danil. As we stepped off of the plane, the Lord had blessed us with a beautiful day. We stood soaking in the sun rays which is something that seemed that we had not felt in a very long, long time.

Standing in the airport waiting to go thought customs, I don’t think it had even hit me yet that we were actually in Honduras.  The excitement and nerves came in to play as we waited. Seeing the Sumner family was a welcomed joy and excitement as well.

When we got to the Sumner's home, and walked in, we could smell the aroma of homemade rolls, curie, salad and a desert that I cannot remember the name of but was very good. My plan is on trying to get the some recipes before I go home. Introductions were made and it was a great time of getting to know one another and making plans for the next day. Sleep came very easily even though we were not in our own beds. The next day was going to be a full one.
