We started early again today we left the Sumner’s house around 4 AM and headed to the first military base which was about 2 hours from their house. We arrived at the base and they were very excited to see the Sumner’s. Sister Elizabeth led the group of soldiers in worship and it was amazing to see about 600 military soldiers worship the Lord. The presence of the Lord was very strong that morning. Brother Hough preached after Sister Allison and Sister Kathrine testified about how the Lord saved them. Brother Hough took his text from John 10:10. He spoke about how the enemy has come to steal, kill and to destroy. The presence of God no doubt was there and you could just feel that God was really reaching out to these soldiers. After Brother Hough finished preaching, Brother Scott Sumner prayed over the soldiers as a whole and you could tell that some of them really wanted the Lord to help them and others it was just a ritual or a mass service for them. Catholicism has a very strong hold on the people of Honduras and it is very clear from the beginning of our trip. However, the Lord’s word is powerful and we pray and hope that every soldier on that base will remember what they have heard and allow it to change them for the glory of God.
The day started early! We left the school at 3 am and headed for the Pittsburg Airport. From Pittsburg we flew and landed in Atlanta, Georgia. AfrWe landed in Honduras and it was bright and sunny and warm. The Sumner’s met us at the airport and then took us to the mall to enjoy the tasty Coco Baleadas. From the mall we left and went to the Sumner’s house and enjoyed a good tasting meal and some great fellowship. The Sumner family has been a blessing to us and we weren’t even in Honduras for a whole day! Driving down the roads of Honduras have showed me how much the Sumner’s love these people and the love that the Honduran people have for the Sumner’s. It seemed like every street we drove down no matter the distance from their house somebody knew them and it was because of the affect that the Sumner’s ministry has had on the people. It truly has been an eye opening day and the Lord has really challenged me to start praying for a people because it is clear that the Sumner’s people are the Hondurans.
