We went to a little country church in the mountains. We got to sing and have Sunday school with the little ones. We shared with them the story of Jonah. They were precious people.

This was an interesting day for us. First a group of us had the experience of attending a Filipino funeral. It was very interesting to see how they showed such honor for the lady who had passed. Their culture regarding death is much different than ours. The lady had passed away on January 10 and they buried her on the 27th. During that time each night they had services to honor her. She was a Christian lady who attended one of the Free Gospel of the Philippines Pastora's churches. Friday, they had the final funeral service and Brother Petit officiated it. He taught us that at a funeral, you preach to living and share the gospel. The S.E.N.T. group was asked to sing, and we tried to leave a message through the song. It was a very interesting experience and insightful on how a situation such as that is supposed to be handled. The picture bellow is of the burial place. Also, we went to a crusade where there was preaching and singing. It was an outreach and many visitors were there. I had the opportunity to pray with four young Filipino teen girls. I hope God touched their lives.
We had another amazing time of prayer after chapel. God was working in the lives of the students. Lorraine preached a chapel out of II Samuel and it spoke to the students especially the Seniors. They prayed for a really long time and they seemed to really be getting what they needed. After that, we left the school to spend part of the day at the ocean. Tonight some of the students will go with Brother Petit to a funeral service. We have been busy this week but it has been busy for the Lord.
I got the opportunity to spend some time in the kitchen watching the girls cook their Filipino food. One of the girls named Faith began to share some of the things she wanted God to do. It was a fun time of bonding and sharing and it was nice to get to know them better. Wednesday night, Brother Cody Randall preached! He talked about getting a vision. The students responded so well in prayer and it was an honor to get to pray with them. The students at Faith Bible institute truly have a heart for the Lord!
We had the opportunity to minister in the local public schools. We had the chance to go with a student from FBI It was amazing to see how this door is open in the Philippines to share with the children the gospel. The class I helped with was full of lively boys and girls. We taught them the verse in Psalms that says what time I am afraid I will put my trust in thee. It was very fun and I hope that something that was taught will stick with those sweet children!
Bro. Palman taught about grief to a group of Filipino Pastors! The pastors here face the same struggles as many pastors in the U.S. Remember to keep the pastors and leaders of the Philippines in your prayers. After the classes were all done for the day, I was asked by a group of FBI students to go for a walk to little store. After getting permission from our S.E.N.T leader I went out. It was fun and the girls took good care of me, one of them wanted to buy me a bottle of some kind of cherry drink I tried to refuse but she insisted telling me it was the Filipino way. I didn't want to hurt her so I accepted, it amazed me that even though they don't have much they are still so giving.
When we got into the Philippines, Bro. Petit met us at the airport and soon took us to get something to eat. We walked to a McDonald's and on the walk there we encountered several things. One of the first things to be noticed was the smell as well as the busy streets. On this walk to McDonald's, something else left an impression, there was a lady laying on the sidewalk in the midst of the stench and filth. Our hearts went out to her, pray for us that we can be a blessing to the people of the Philippines and that God will use us to be an encouragement to those we will be with at the Bible School. This country is in need and it will be FBI students who will one day go out to reach the citizens such as the lady on the street. Pray we can be used to touch the lives of the FBI students so that one day they will reach the Philippinos in need.
