Days 8 and 9

3/4/2014

Monday and Tuesday were workdays and we got to repaint the tables in the Soup Kitchen, and the guys made five new tables and ten benches. The kids love the bright colored tables and chairs. It was fun to get to paint the tables and play with the kids. Daniel and Sis Amanda played soccer with several of the kids, and they enjoyed themselves so much.

Monday night was a great service as well. Jacob and James both preached, and The Lord used them in a great way. Jacob preached on the ten virgins and being filled with the Holy Spirit. James preached on "The Blood, the Boundary, and the Beauty" and how Christ paid the price to break the boundary so that his beauty could be upon us. The Lord anointed Him and the altar call was amazing. People prayed at the altar for about an hour, and they were touched by God in a special way.

Tuesday was also a great service. John preached about rejecting God's love, and Bro Pahlman preached about staying revived after revival. The young people prayed for strength to stand and it was a good altar call. Before we dismissed, the church people testified about what God had done for them. There were testimonies of healing, encouragement, and the answering of Gods call. Praise The Lord!

I'm so sad there is only a few more days in the trip. The Lord has just been helping our team and answering our prayers. I believe The Lord has greater things in store for the next few days!

Day 7

3/2/2014

Sunday morning was the last Kids Crusade service. The recruits were able to defeat Goliath by using the Holy Spirit. The kids really enjoyed the skits and games that day, but the altar service was so special. As little kids came up and prayed around the altars to be filled with the Holy Spirit, such a presence of God entered the room. Several mothers prayed with their children, and tears were just running down the kid's faces as they sought and prayed for the Holy Ghost. I know at least one boy, Jadel, was filled with the Holy Ghost.

Sunday night was the first night of the youth revival. The youth revival is probably my favorite series of services we hold in Honduras. The young people are just so hungry for the Spirit of God, and The Lord always exceeds my expectations for these services.

We had only sung a few songs and you could just feel the presence of the Lord all over the place. No matter if you are singing in Spanish or English, the presence of The Lord is the same. Daniel Threadgill preached on "Thank God for Jesus" and he did a great job; The Lord really helped him. After that, the Sumner girls got up and sang "You Deserve the Glory". From there the place just exploded. God came down in such a powerful way! People were praising God and shouting everywhere, The Lord blessed myself and the other SENT Team members. Bro. Hough began to exhort on how the Devil is under our feet and it encouraged so many people that night.

The Lord answered one of my prayers Sunday night. A girl named Pamela had backslid after my first SENT trip, and I really wanted to see her come back to the Lord. She showed up unexpectedly Sunday night and began to pray. Praise The Lord for answering prayer!

Sunday had wonderful services and the Lord just exceeded my expectations for each one. I'm so thankful that He is mindful of our own needs, as well as those you are trying to minister to.

Day 6

3/1/2014

Wow! Talk about a busy day...first on the agenda was the soup kitchen. Now, the soup kitchen was a vision of Bro Jake Sumner, and it feeds around 200 kids and their mothers each Saturday. The kids get to sing songs and learn about God before they eat their meal. It is always a great privilege to help here. The kids are so sweet and they will tease you, play games with you, and laugh at your Spanish. Bro Hough and Daniel were quite popular this Saturday, giving "airplane rides" and letting the kids climb all over them. The kids loved the Nehemiah Skit we did, and overall it was a great time at the soup kitchen.

Our next three services were at the Saturday Schools. These are kids services in different neighborhoods in Danli. Three of the sisters from the church got a burden to minister to the kids in their neighborhood, and each is doing an excellent job reaching them. We did the Nehemiah Skit here as well, and the kids loved seeing Sissy and Rachel pelted with water balloons and seeing them get scared half to death. However, Jacob was supposed to be a beast Sanballat and Tobias used to distract the Israelites from building the wall back up. He wore a monkey mask and black robe, and ran down the aisles hollering. Well, this scared a lot of the little kids. One two year old was in tears....poor thing! But overall the skit went really well.

Saturday was the second night of the kid’s crusade, and it went great! Goliath came out again and challenged the Lord's Army. The recruits tried to fight Goliath with swords, but got defeated. The sergeants explained that we could win against Goliath if we used the real sword, the Bible. John refused, and when we went into battle again, he got captured. We played some games and saw the kids try to put together towers made of marshmallow and spaghetti and try to put bananas back together with toothpicks and rubber bands. Pretty funny! Katherine and Elizabeth did a very funny skit about how we have to apply the Bible for it to work. We ended the night with a continuation of the first skit, and John was able to break out of jail by using the Word.

If the night had ended there, all would have been just fine. But God had other plans. Bro Scott asked if there was anyone that wanted prayer, and about ten women came up. The Spirit of The Lord came down in that place so strong. There is a three year old girl named Mellie in the church that has polyps in her intestines, and her mother brought her up for prayer. As I knelt down and put my hand on her stomach and prayed, I felt The Lord come by in a mighty way. Another woman brought up her little boy who was just diagnosed with parasites. Each woman said she felt The Lord had done something special for them that night. It was a great altar service!

Day 5

2/28/2014

Friday we went to a police service in Danli in the morning. This is the Sumner's home police station, and we had a good service here. We sang and testified, and the Lord moved. I know this sounds a bit repetitive when compared to other services, but it really is how it happens. God anoints and strengthens us to testify and sing. I am thankful we serve a God who helps us no matter where we are.

Friday night was the first night of Kids Crusade, and it is military theme. Each night Goliath comes out and challenges God's Army and throws a different challenge at them. Last night was the recruits trying to join the army, but they all had different obstacles to overcome. Needless to say, there was a lot of tripping over tires and getting hit with water balloons, but the kids loved it and it was so much fun. At the end, the recruits had to call upon the captain of their salvation for help to finish the obstacle course. Christ showed himself as the Captain of Salvation and led us the right way.

Friday was a good day and I enjoyed getting to spend time with all my little Honduran friends again. They are so sweet and funny, and I enjoy every moment I am with them. Please keep the remainder of the Kids Crusade and the Youth Revival in your prayers. Looking forward to the Lord moving in a special way!

Days 3 and 4

2/27/2014

Our day was pretty busy on Wednesday. We stayed at a hotel in Tegucigalpa Tuesday night, and despite some interestingly colored water, we rested pretty well. Sis. Amanda, Tabitha, and I got to ride in the back of the pickup truck...so much fun! We felt like celebrities (haha) as people hung out of their cars to wave at us.

We had four military and police services on Wednesday, and went to my favorite places - the academies for military and police. It is always enjoyable to go there, as the cadets are so friendly and interact so well in the services. The Lord dealt with several and each testimony and sermon was anointed.

While I was testifying at the Police Academy, I jokingly said I was too small to be a police officer. Well, all the recruits started laughing and pointing at a short girl on the right - she was my size! She took it well and I got a picture with her afterwards.

The First Infantry base had a great group of men and The Lord really helped us here. The Soldiers got in so well and it was a great service.

Thursday went well also, but half of us went to two of the services and then went home. The two services was at went well. The Sixth battalion had a wonderful service, and the men were very attentive. You could tell The Lord was really dealing with several men.

It has been a great four days so far and I cannot wait for The Lord to do greater things in the next 8 days!

Day 2

2/26/2014

Well it is so good to be back in Honduras! We had a good flight over here from the States. It was Allison and Heather's first time to fly, so it was pretty funny to see their faces as we landed and took off. When we arrived in Tegucigalpa, the landing was pretty scary, as usual. However, we made it out of the skies just fine and the pilot received the customary round of applause after landing. We had also had the traditional welcoming meal of the SENT team - Coco Baleadas! Definitely one of my favorite places.

It is so nice to be in the warm weather! I love Pennsylvania and the snow, but it is great to be in the sunshine again.

We left at 3 AM on Tuesday morning to go to our first services for the military and police. Our first service was at a police station in Choluteca. I remembered being there my first year down here, and it was a very special time to me. We all testified and Jacob preached, and he did a great job.

The remainder of the services were military, and I had been to two of the bases before. I love these services because the soldiers love to sing, and after two years of coming down here, I can actually sing a few of the songs with them! As always, the soldiers were attentive and loved to hear the Word of God.

At the second base we went to, the commander spoke with us before the service and told us how the Honduran military needed these services because they knew who God was, but they did not know Him personally. It is wonderful to hear the support of the commanders of these bases for the Word of God. I hope someday that one of these commanders will truly be saved and sold out to God, and bring his men to revival. Imagine a military, on fire for God!

Our fourth and final military service last night was special. It was on Tiger Island for the Navy. Tiger Island is so beautiful and the men here seem to love the services the Sumners hold. As we testified, there was a common thread of relying upon The Lord for help. I testified and asked the men who they think would win if Jacob and I got into a fight...well, much to my surprise, they were not impressed by my large muscles or my extreme height. I then asked them what would happen if Bro. Alan helped me fight Jacob, and they agreed I'd have a better chance if he helped me. I tried to relate that to God and how nothing is impossible with Him on our side. The Lord helped each one of us ladies testify in this service and John did a great job preaching on God making us strong in our weakness.

After the service we went sightseeing and stopped at a beach. You could see both Nicaragua and El Salvador from this spot and there was even a bat cave in the rocks. Well, I braved the rocks and went in the bat cave with Bro. Alan and Sis. Paula, John, and Jacob. When we went in and made some noise the bats began to fly around in the far end of the cave. I was a little afraid of a bat flying in my hair...and Jacob took advantage of that by hitting my bun with his rubber phone case. I immediately started beating the back of my head and yelling for Bro Alan to help me while everyone just stood there and laughed. It was an interesting experience...

All in all, it has been great to be here so far. The Lord is already moving and working, and we are having a good time on the south team! I cannot wait for the next few days to see how The Lord will work.
