Well it is so good to be back in Honduras! We had a good flight over here from the States. It was Allison and Heather's first time to fly, so it was pretty funny to see their faces as we landed and took off. When we arrived in Tegucigalpa, the landing was pretty scary, as usual. However, we made it out of the skies just fine and the pilot received the customary round of applause after landing. We had also had the traditional welcoming meal of the SENT team - Coco Baleadas! Definitely one of my favorite places.
It is so nice to be in the warm weather! I love Pennsylvania and the snow, but it is great to be in the sunshine again.
We left at 3 AM on Tuesday morning to go to our first services for the military and police. Our first service was at a police station in Choluteca. I remembered being there my first year down here, and it was a very special time to me. We all testified and Jacob preached, and he did a great job.
The remainder of the services were military, and I had been to two of the bases before. I love these services because the soldiers love to sing, and after two years of coming down here, I can actually sing a few of the songs with them! As always, the soldiers were attentive and loved to hear the Word of God.
At the second base we went to, the commander spoke with us before the service and told us how the Honduran military needed these services because they knew who God was, but they did not know Him personally. It is wonderful to hear the support of the commanders of these bases for the Word of God. I hope someday that one of these commanders will truly be saved and sold out to God, and bring his men to revival. Imagine a military, on fire for God!
Our fourth and final military service last night was special. It was on Tiger Island for the Navy. Tiger Island is so beautiful and the men here seem to love the services the Sumners hold. As we testified, there was a common thread of relying upon The Lord for help. I testified and asked the men who they think would win if Jacob and I got into a fight...well, much to my surprise, they were not impressed by my large muscles or my extreme height. I then asked them what would happen if Bro. Alan helped me fight Jacob, and they agreed I'd have a better chance if he helped me. I tried to relate that to God and how nothing is impossible with Him on our side. The Lord helped each one of us ladies testify in this service and John did a great job preaching on God making us strong in our weakness.
After the service we went sightseeing and stopped at a beach. You could see both Nicaragua and El Salvador from this spot and there was even a bat cave in the rocks. Well, I braved the rocks and went in the bat cave with Bro. Alan and Sis. Paula, John, and Jacob. When we went in and made some noise the bats began to fly around in the far end of the cave. I was a little afraid of a bat flying in my hair...and Jacob took advantage of that by hitting my bun with his rubber phone case. I immediately started beating the back of my head and yelling for Bro Alan to help me while everyone just stood there and laughed. It was an interesting experience...
All in all, it has been great to be here so far. The Lord is already moving and working, and we are having a good time on the south team! I cannot wait for the next few days to see how The Lord will work.
