Today was the first day of the kids’ crusade. We spent the morning in preparation for the skits and games for the night’s service. It didn’t take us very long because we had a soup kitchen, and three different Saturday schools that we had to do before we even had the night service. The soup kitchen was amazing! They also had a lot of improvements from last year. It’s just right off the side of a dirt road next to several houses. It was concreted this time and they had a nice fence around it to protect it from vandals. They fixed a really nice meal: fried tacos! The people really loved it! That is something they don’t get very often. It would be equivalent to us going out to eat at a nice restaurant for free.
After that we started our Saturday school trips. To us, these services seemed very short. At every service we would do a skit about the marching around Jericho. That skit actually went a lot better than what I thought it would. Then we would just sing a few songs and take off to the next place. One of the ladies would finish the service after we left.
We went straight to the church after all those services to prepare for the main service of the day. To be honest, I think we had a harder time interpreting and getting all the skits down exactly. You could tell everyone was pretty tired but it seemed to make it even funnier at times. Daniel, Lisa, and Aaron did a skit about being doctors and trying to fix spiritual things. It was probably one of the best skits I have ever seen. They really did a tremendous job! The altar call went very well and the kids responded well. Even some older people came to pray. It was a very exhausting day but the altar call was worth it all!
