Today was an off day. We got to go to Valley of the Angels to shop for souvenirs. This location was way up on a mountain. The view was beautiful. It was a great experience to be able to look at all the shops and watch our wood and leather be engraved and have designs burned into. We had a wonderful Honduran lunch followed by rich ice cream. Experiencing another culture is the most amazing experience. I am so appreciative to the Sumners for their hospitality to us. Already it has challenged my heart to see the work they are doing first hand and their unspeakable love for the Honduran people. They are people I can look up to in ministry. The fruit of their labor has only come because of obedience, hard work, and a complete surrender to the call of God. I am honored to be able to be with them these two weeks. I am also thankful for the SENT team members God has placed me with. We are laborers together for Christ! I am excited to go to the Military bases for busy week tomorrow for a whole new opportunity to see God do the miraculous!
The Lord's day! Ruth Violette and I taught the little kids Sunday School. We did lessons, games, and a memory verse centered around the Holy Ghost. There were 30 kids that showed up which was definitely the biggest Sunday School class I have ever taught! The kids really enjoyed it.
We worked in the soup kitchen and Saturday schools. To start out, we cleaned at the first location and prepped food. There were over 100 people, mainly kids, that showed up. We did our skit on Esther and the kids loved it. The meal was boiled root with cabbage, a red sauce, cheese, and authentic pork skins. For this you need an acquired taste that I did not have! Afterwards, we went to other Saturday schools. It was amazing to see how the kids showed up on time, on their own. Some children brought babies that they held and took care of as if they were their own. There was a great response to the skit. At each Saturday school there was a small amount of food given to all. The people that host the Saturday schools give sacrificially. No wonder God blesses them so richly with His presence.
Off to Honduras! It was so exciting to be leaving for a time that we, as a group and individuals, had raised the funds for, worked for, but most of all prayed and fasted for. Arriving in Honduras was a blessing, and although we were exhausted, there was still an anticipation for what God was going to do.
