This was the first night of our Kid’s Crusade with the theme “defenders of the truth”. We have spent a week ministering to the military and police feeling the presence of God and seeing lives touched. We have been looking forward to it. This was a different setting and everyone has become comfortable being in a different country and comfortable working with an interpreter, it was an actual church service. We were trying to portray who Jesus is. Several of the students rode on the bus to pick up the kids, seeing everyone coming off the bus enthusiasm filled the air. We had a great night with the kids and adults great participants to what we were doing. When the altar call was given there were 25-30 children who came forward to pray. You can’t but be touched to see these children seek God. Some came just to come others were really seeking God.
We are traveling back to the Sumner’s home. We had four services today. Our first was a military communications group which is the only one they have. Service was held outdoors again. Seeing the sunrise early and proclaiming the Gospel is a wonderful way to start the day. From sunrise to sunset the message of the Gospel is being preached in Honduras. God is good! We visited the sixth battalion today; this was the place that the Sumner’s first started their military and police ministry. Bro. Alan was pointing out the very spot where God opened the door. It was a special time realizing how one step of faith has led to one family reaching a whole country. Nothing is impossible with God. After service we received word that the commander wanted us to come to his house. I would have to explain this later but this is something the Lord showed me before we came. He allowed us to sit down with the commander and talk to him about the Lord. We had refreshments and talked. I walked away smiling knowing God once again was showing himself to us. Everywhere it seems we go God is touching lives and answering prayer. What an amazing God we serve. We joined back with the North team and will continue together. Kid’s crusade tomorrow – I can’t wait!
We continued our quest of ministering to the military and police. We went to both the police and military academies. Seeing them so eager to hear what we had to say brought a renewed joy and excitement to continue to bring them the word. This morning we held a service outdoors and they asked for them to come down front for prayer. There were seven or eight soldiers that stepped out. After the preaching and the singing to know that God is working to touch lives is amazing. It’s hard when you can’t speak their language well enough to talk with them. But seeing the hands that raise and the tears that fall, with the spirit you feel you know God is accomplishing His will and He has no limits.
The team split up going north and south. I am a part of the south team, with Bro. Alan Sumner and his family. We drove for hours over mountain after mountain to be at first service at 7:00 AM. Finally arriving at the police academy. We walked in and they were in formation waiting the morning service. Smiles filled their faces as we walked in. We began to sing and testify in this small outside court yard. Prisoners lined the back wall in their cells. We felt the Lord and prayed with several of them. God moved and we were so thankful. In all we had four military and police services today! We went to Tiger Island to minister at the naval base. We had to take a boat to reach the island and ride in motor taxi’s to get to the base. It is so beautiful here!! The mountains and the water, at one point we are standing in Honduras and can see El Salvador and Niagara! Mom I did walk on the beach through the edge of the water but I am fine!! They visited a bat cave that I passed on and looked for shells with a couple of the other girls instead!! Lol I don’t like bats!!
It was a wonderful day!! God moved and lives were touched. At one base the commander was expressing how thankful he was we came and visited them to bring God to them. One man had sad that they acknowledge there is a God but don’t know God. How sad and true this is. We must continue our journey so that we can tell them about God and hopefully they will accept him and know him!! Leaving/Arriving
Excitement was at its highest as 15 faculty and students headed on our much anticipated trip to Honduras. We arrive at the airport and went through the routine of checking us all in, we had no problems. Quickly we arrived at the gate. We met other missionaries who would be going to Honduras and fling the same flight, they were a team going to build a bridge. So all seemed well until we found out Bro. Pahlman would not be meeting us in Atlanta, and would not be able to join us in Honduras until Tuesday! The Lord is in control. We left the USA and in a few hours would be at our destination. Heather and Alison had never flown and we were anxious to see their reaction. They both did wonderful! We landed safely in Honduras!!!! We made it through customs and the Sumners were waiting on us. We got our luggage and headed to the big city. I was pleasantly surprised to see so many American signs reminding me of home. Burger King, McDonalds, etc. I almost thought we hadn’t really left the USA until you read the signs around them and they were all in Spanish! I even got to see Wal-Mart in Honduras!! Looks pretty much the same, the produce isle was my favorite, seeing many vegetables I have never seen!! We arrived at the Sumner’s house and had a wonderful meal. Time to settle down then up bright and early to leave at three am. |
