A Word from Our Founder
Our Lord Jesus Christ tells us in Mark 16:15 that we must “go” into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. It is not a suggestion or request; it is a clear command to His disciples to consider it our duty to go and preach the gospel to all people. Not all are called to “go” physically, but all are called to participate. If we do not go physically, we must “go” through our prayers and finances to help others who go physically.
Having traveled to many nations of the world to preach the Good News, the Lord laid it on my heart to help young dedicated Christians to do the same. Being a graduate of Free Gospel Bible Institute, I introduced a plan to the school for a short term missions program among the student body. The vision was accepted and the Lord soon made it possible for S.E.N.T. Ministries to become a reality. This short term missionary ministry gives selected students the exciting opportunity to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to thousands around the globe who are in desperate need of Him.
Participation in a mission trip, even a short-term trip of 10-14 days, will result in blessings that we could never have imagined. I have observed these benefits:
1. I believe in short-term missions because it helps fulfill the Great Commission.
2. I believe in short-term missions because it helps fulfill a need. Short-termers are able to use their specific skills to accomplish things on the mission field that career missionaries may have neither the time nor ability to do. They witness, conduct Bible schools, preach, encourage missionaries, and much more.
3. I believe in short-term missions because it expands your worldview. A worldview is one's way of perceiving reality. In my opinion, going to another culture, particularly in a third world country, forces one to see certain realities quite differently.
4. I believe in short-term missions because it changes the participant’s life forever. How? The short-termer is forced to examine his or her value system and, hopefully, rearrange his or her priorities. The short-termer often sees real purpose in his life and skills for the first time. Also, most short-termers become better givers financially to mission work. Another plus is that God often uses the short-term experience to clarify a missionary call in one's life.
I want to thank President Thomas Peretic and other leaders at F.G.B.I. for their passion for the end time harvest, and also thank the students who have participated in past trips. I look forward with great anticipation to what God will do through this God- ordained ministry in the future.
To all “goers” and “senders,” may the Lord use the following words of the martyred missionary Nate Saint to inspire us to do all we can for the salvation of souls world-wide:
"And people who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives…and when the bubble has burst they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted."
S.E.N.T. Ministry is devoted to eternally saving and investing lives, not wasting them!
His for the Harvest;
