Today was a work day for us. The Sumners wanted to put color into their soup kitchen. So we sanded and painted the tables and the table legs. We painted the legs black and the tables were painted red, green, yellow, blue and orange. Children that walked by stopped and watched us. When we were almost finished we started to play some games with the kids. It was fun learning their games and teaching them games. Every day that we’ve been here I’ve seen how dedicated the Sumners are to God’s ministry. They give their everything everyday to these people. After a long day of work we came home and played some volley ball. We laughed so much. I’ve been so blessed to be here with the Sumner family. They have taught me so much about what serving God means. It’s not a sacrifice or a chore, but its something that’s enjoyable, not always easy, but right.
This morning our second kids' crusade service took place. We came about an hour early to get everything we needed together. We spent time in prayer and I really felt burdened from the Lord for these children. God has a special plan just for each and every one of them. I'm so glad that we were able to put on this kids crusade. God reaches out for young children just as He does for the adults. It is so important to reach them when they are young. The skits went very well. In the evening crusade we had a few fun games. The kids were all standing up and crowding the front to trying to see everything that was going on. When the service started to get serious the children sat intently to watch what was going to happen next. I really felt like the Lord was speaking through our different skits. The Lord helped us so much. Things were flowing so smooth. When the altar call was made Bro. Pahlman asked for those who wanted to be saved to come to the front to pray and so many children came to pray. There were several that were crying and praying so sincere. It touched my heart so much. It is such a precious sound to hear children praying. God is raising young people to do a work for Him. There is still a generation that is seeking God.
Every day is so exciting here in Honduras. I love all the opportunities we get. We held Saturday school at several different places and performed our “Jericho skit.” The children loved it! We also experienced the soup kitchen today. I am amazed at all the work the Sumners do every day! It is challenging and so rewarding. The children were so much fun! When we served them their food I kept asking if it was for me and they would say “no!” and hold on to their food real tight. The childrens’ crusade was a blast! I love the children here! They are all so fun. They enjoyed the skits we performed and they were all very good listeners. When the altar call was made they went up to pray and the Lord was really dealing with some of the children. They are so tender to the Lord. When they go to pray, they pray with a purpose! It is awesome! The kids here have my heart for sure! I know that God is speaking to them and I am so thankful for their openness to the Gospel. Who knows what God has in store for these children.
This morning we had the priveledge of going to another military base . There were several testimonies Chris LePelley preached to them and The Lord really dealt with their hearts and bro sumner asked if any wanted to pray for salvation to come and pray and six people came to pray. It was a wonderful experience. We had our second night of the youth service. I love the church here! These people are so precious to me. Bro Brock preached and The Lord really spoke through him. The people were so moved to pray. A young girl came to pray and the entire time she prayed she wept and wept. I wept with her too. I really felt like The Lord was calling her into the ministry and that is something I have been praying to see. She was the last one praying in the altar. The Lord has been challenging these young people. I realize now more than ever how important it is to live what you say you are. People notice! People are affected by your decisions! I'm so glad God has been moving and answering prayers!
This morning we were invited to go to a Military Ceremony for forest fires. There were several speakers. The mayor of Danli was also there. They set some grass on fire to illustrate how to put out a fire. All the men ran over and put it out, then like 20 minutes later we saw smoke coming from the grass and the fire was coming back so then they had to go back and put it out again. We traveled back to the Sumner's residence and rested until the evening service. The service started and we made friends with the children. When the song service started we worshiped and felt the presence of the Lord. It was wonderful! Our group sang "Oh the Blood of Jesus" and the congregation started worshiping! I'm so thankful for all that His blood has accomplished for me. We testified and sang another song. Aaron Gilles preached first about what you could be. Bro. Pahlman preached about being a winner for Christ. It was very challenging. The people prayed so sincere in the altars. Several were just weeping and some were praising and shouting. God touched so many this evening. From the young children to the elders. It has been an amazing experience so far.
We had a great night's rest at the hotel after a busy day yesterday. I love the military services that we do! The people seem so receptive to what we say. This morning we had breakfast at Expresso Americano and Dunkin Donuts. I have been trying to order my meals in Spanish and it goes great until the cashier asks me questions- then one of the Sumner girls has to help me. Lol. We had 4 services today and the Lord's presence was felt at every one! God has been helping us with singing and testifying. These men are feeling God at the services. They are so open to hear preaching and they are all so attentive and respectful. It's truly amazing what doors the Lord has opened for the Sumner family. It is an amazing work! It is very busy but I am loving every minute of it. The Lord gives so many opportunities to us. I'm so grateful for all that He has allowed us. I love being here! It is so beautiful. God is doing great things in the hearts of these military men. Thanks everyone for all your prayers and support. We feel them!! Gloria Dios.
I'm so glad that God is already moving. Today was an early start for our group. We left the Sumner’s residence at 5am to be at our first service at 10am. We were a little nervous but the Lord really helped us with our songs and testimonies. A man sat there crying during the service. God spoke to his heart. We rode on a "lancha" to Tiger Island for our second military service. We climbed on some rocks to get to a bat cave and both mine and Janna's skirts got muddy. We went to the service and trusted the Lord to move. He spoke to those men and women. One man who was a backslider asked the brothers to pray with him to get back to the Lord! Earlier Bro. Pahlman gave us an illustration of the verse "a righteous man falleth seven times". It’s never been made so real to me. This trip has been so eventful; I am loving every minute of it!!
