A day of farewell is what today is, the day that we leave to go back to the States. I am so sad because I don’t want to leave. I think I could stay here a lot longer. It took so much longer to get to Honduras and when we got here it went by way too quickly and way too fast. The friendships and bonds that I made here I hope will be for a lifetime.
Valley of the Angels, this is where we went today. This is where we did our souvenir shopping. The fist shop we went to was a place that some of the previous S.E.N.T. team’s had went before and the lady that worked there was very nice and gave us all really good prices and even gave us a free book marked with our name on it. It was very nice of her. We spent most of the morning the Valley of the Angels shopping and looking around.
When we got back to the Sumner’s home most of us played volleyball when some of us went toad hunting. I won’t go into details but it was a lot of fun. There was much laughter and many smiles. It is a great memory that I will always have. As the night went on we got to play Uno and some other games. It was so much fun to have that time to spend with everyone before we have to leave tomorrow. I am dreading tomorrow. I do not want to leave. Today all of the team was together ministering. We got to go to the air force and preach and testify. When the service came to a close there were a few men that gave our group a tour. It was of the hangers and the places that they repaired and made some of the parts for the planes. The last place we went was one that the south team had previously gone to. When we drove up on the bass it looked like to me that they were having a work day, but they took the time to gather in there cafeteria to hear the singing, preaching and testimonies. I think it was probably one of the biggest groups that had gathered together for a service.
Tonight all of the team got to eat at the meat place on the side of the road. I believe that everyone enjoyed it very much. Then it was off to go back to the Sumner’s home. Today started with breakfast then it was off to the kitchen to put a second coat of paint on the tables at the kitchen. When we where painting we might of had a little too much fun by putting paint on each other’s faces. We also got to play with the kids that lived close to the kitchen again.
Tonight was the last night of youth revival. It seems like everything here comes and goes so quickly. Tonight was another great service and the presence of the Lord was great. After the service was over some other church people got to testify and tell us how the Lord had touched them. When the men and women were testifying Bro. Alan was interpreting for them so we could understand what there where saying. I was so happy to hear what the Lord was doing in their lives, giving them hope, strength, victories and many healings. Some of the testimonies that were given were of healing. They were from some of the people that we had prayed for just a few nights before. It was a great way to end the night and the youth revival. Today we worked in the kitchen cleaning, sanding and painting the tables. I wish I could be here Saturday when the kids see the new tables and benches that we will work on tomorrow. When we had a rest we got to play with some of children that live close to the kitchen. There was one little girl named Emily who must have been less than four, but there she was just begging to be tickled and played with, and I had fun doing it as well. The smile on her face was well worth it.
Tonight is the second night of the youth revival, it was also amazing. I will never get over the power of God and how He can come down in a service and change life. It was great seeing people of all ages get in and worship the Lord. The last Kid's Crusade service is today. We are going to have all the kids in the church and the teens and the adults are going to have there Sunday school class outside. The crusade has been so much fun. It has been such a blessing to see the kids get in the altars and seek God. Today’s lesson was about the Holy Ghost. It was amazing to see how God can even speak to children. One little boy got filled with the Holy Ghost today.
When we got back to the Sumner’s home we ate lunch and had a good time of fellowship and I even got a little Sunday nap in before Bro. Alan Sumner got the plane out to take us all for a ride in the sky. It was a lot different than what I expected but I’m learning that a lot of things are just that way here in Honduras. Tonight styouth revival so existed to see what the Lord will do. Today was a day of smiles, laughter, soccer, and water balloons. It started with breakfast which was very good, and then it was off to the soup kitchen to prepare for the meal. It was a lot of fun to play with the kids that had brought a soccer ball with them. Before the crowd got too big, I got to take some picture of the kids. It was so funny and sweet to see their faces light up with a big smile after I would show them there picture that I had just taken of them. The boys and girls told me to take their friend's picture and then another friend's and then another. It was too cute.
After we had cleaned up and washed the dishes at the soup kitchen, it was off to Saturday school. Saturday school is like a Sunday school class but is not on Sunday and it is held in the homes or on the property of the women of the church here in Honduras. There were three different Saturday schools that we got to go to and each of them where unique. The first was quie but very interested in what we were doing. When we got the second place there was a little boy who opened the service with prayer that had been filled with the Holy Ghost a few years ago. It was evident even though we did not understand his language that he was really meaning what he was praying. At the third Saturday School is where the water balloons come into play. In the skits that we were doing at each of the stops, water balloons where used as an attack on the wall that we were building. At the other two stops, only the S.E.N.T. team members would throw a few of the water balloons but at this stop all of the kids got a chance to throw them at the wall that we were trying to build. To say the least there were a few of us where purity much soaked from head to toe. The good part about this was the kids had fun and it cooled us down. Today all of us got to go to a police station and minister together for the first time. It was a great service. After the service was over all of us went to eat breakfast. You could tell by the sweet welcome and the hugs that were passed around from the workers that this place was often visited by the Sumner family. After we had all finished eating our breakfast, we got the opportunity to do a little shopping for knifes, then it was off to gather supplies, food and beginning to prepare the church for Kid's Crusade that was starting tonight.
The first night of Kid's Crusade and "Defenders of the Faith" is the theme and tonight’s topic is salvation. I got to ride on the bus to pick up all of the kids and also many adults and teens as well. It is an experience I will never forget as each little girl who stepped on the bus gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek and the boys would shake my hand. They were so sweet and even though there was a language barrier that did not stop us from playing rock, paper, scissors and other little games like it. Once the service was coming to a close it was amazing to see how even the adults and older children got in the altars as well as the smaller children. This is something you don’t see in even the States, but they were hungry. It was so great that age did not make a difference to them or to God. It was great to see and it was something I will also never forget about my trip. Today was a traveling day back to the Sumner’s home for both the South and the North groups. As we traveled, we made a few stops to minister on the way home. The first service of the day was at communication. It was a great service. It is amazing to see how the Lord will touch people in these services and to see the response of the men and women.
Later on that day, some of us girls came back with Sis. Sumner to help prepare supper. It was my first time in a store down here in Honduras. It was a bit different seeing the prices for thing and trying to convert them to how much that would be in America dollars. It is a lot easier to comprehend their money and how to pay for things than what I thought it was going to be. Everyone was back together for supper tonight and it felt a little wired being all together again but it did not take us long to get back in the grove of being around one another again. Tomorrow night is the first night of Kid’s Crusade. I’m so excited to see what God will do. Much needed sleep was accomplished last light after we got to are hotel and went to our separate rooms. The food and internet access from McDonald was very nice. A call to home was an added bonus that I did not know that I was going to have. Being in the capital was very nice, and we were blessed with very good weather - not to hot and not to cold - just right.
The first service of the day, only the guys on the south team went but the second was at a place where the men and woman that where there were the 1st responders. The third was at a police academy. The ground’s of the academy were very beautiful and nice. After the service we got to take a picture with the whole academy which was very nice. The third was a military base, there was a lot more people there and the way they participated in the service was very exciting. They sang so loud and got into the service more than any other that I have been in so far. We met a woman there and got to talk to her; she told us that the testimony and preaching were for her and that every time that Bro. Alan preached it was something for her. It was encouraging to know that the words that we had spoken were helping and touching her heart. We took a few pictures with her. She was very sweet and gave us food and some Pepsi to drink on our way back to the hotel. |
