God has been impressing the same thought on many of our hearts. For the past few days the theme seems to be "Pressing Through to Touch Jesus". Joe preached about the woman with the issue of blood and how she was healed. Bro. Lloyd said he had really noticed a difference in the way the people pray. Every night the people linger at the altar longer and more begin to truly pray from their hearts. A few come out of curiosity and stand and watch, but it is evident by the look in their eyes that they can feel God is real. Many times at the altar, people will come up to one of us S.E.N.T. members and ask for prayer for healing and restoration of their families. I believe God is touching their hearts in ways that they have never known before and that it will impact them long after we leave! The first day of the kids and youth crusade went well. About 200 teens came and over 50 young kids. Tonight in church, Sis. Amanda preached and we saw God really touch people. It seemed as if some walls broke down and people began to truly pray from their hearts. Haitians enjoy worshiping and singing but when praying they have not shown much emotion so far. But tonight I saw the first tears shed by any of the people as God reached down to us with His presence. Many people, young and old came to be prayed for healing. I prayed with one woman who stands out in my mind. She was holding a sleeping child and her other little girl was holding on to her mother's skirt. She could not make it to the front because the crowd was too big but she pushed her little girl forward and told her to go to the front. The little girl went and was prayed for while her mother watched and prayed with tears running down her cheeks. It really touched my heart to see her sincerity and desire for her family to reach God even if she could not make it to the front herself. As I lay in bed writing this blog the first sounds of Mardi Gras can be heard. The reverberating drum beats and chants remind me of how many lost souls there are in Haiti and how many will hear the Gospel this week. Bro. Lloyd estimated that there would be around 100 youth coming Monday morning. We are praying for more and expecting God to do great things. We are becoming better friends with the children here and they seem to enjoy playing games and talking with us. Tonight in the service, Jacob Hill preached about the deed that Christ will take back from the devil when He opens the sealed book in Revelation and how He has conquered sin and we must let Him in our lives to conquer the sin in our hearts. An adolescent boy and girl came up to receive Christ and many more prayed sincerely. While I was praying for an older lady she began to praise God and we both prayed for a long time together and it was as if the language barrier was broken. Even though we could not understand each other we knew we were praising the same God and He would understand each of our prayers. It is truly a life changing experience to visit HaitiThere are many things about Haiti that I could write about, the food, the beautiful land, the plane ride here, etc, but what stands out the most to me is the people. The children here have been blessed with the Lloyd family and they treat them as their real parents. It is a life changing experience that everyone should have, to head to church down the gravel road with families and children coming from every direction to worship together. The Bible says that the Lord inhabits the praises of His people and though we were singing in English and they in Creole, the Lord came down and visited us in the first service. A girl got saved the first night and we trust that she was only the first of many on this trip. |
