We spent today working on the Soup Kitchen, to make it more colorful they decided to paint the tops of the tables different colors; green, blue, orange, yellow, and red. They looked amazing! It took us a few hours to sand they tables down really good. We painted the bottoms of the tables and the legs of the tables black. There was a total of 10 tables, Lord willing they are wanting to add 8 or 10 more tables to the Soup Kitchen, which will double the size of it now. We had a blast sanding and painting the tables, it was great to see how a little bit of color can change so much. There were some kids standing outside the Soup Kitchen watching and putting claim to which table they were going to sit at when they came on Saturday. After working several hours we came back to the house, ate supper, and played a fun game of volley ball! Bro. Pahlman taught us some new moves. The fellowship has been amazing, I’m loving getting to spend time with and help this awesome family. They work so hard from day to day, but the Lord is blessing their work.
Today for both Sunday services we did the Kids' Campaign. What a crazy and busy day! But the Lord came by and helped us in a mighty way. For both services we had a good-sized crowd of children. In the night service we played the game “Oogah Boogah” with some selected people in the crowd and they loved it! It was hilarious to see the expressions on their faces. If you don’t know what that game is then you need to play it! Bro. Pahlman gave the altar call tonight asking for the children to come forth if they want Jesus to come into their heart, and several came forward! Several were crying and praying with a sincere heart. It touched my heart so much to see the young children, whose home life maybe isn’t the best, long to have Jesus. It was a great Kids' Campaign and the Lord moved in a mighty way.
This day has probably been my favorite thus far. We did the soup kitchen ministry, Saturday School, and the first night of the kids’ campaign! What a day! Our skit was the story of Joshua and the wall of Jericho. The kids, as well as some adults, loved it! We started at the soup kitchen where we sang songs, put on the Jericho skit, and then fee 170+ kids some delicious fried chicken tacos. From there we went to three different homes throughout Danli where some of the women from Christ Cares Church gather children in their area to keep them there during Saturdays. Each home had about 30-40 children--what an opportunity! We also started the first night of the kids campaign. We dealt with the topic of sin. The kids were very receptive and they loved it. The altars were flooded with children praying. I saw a couple of girls crying and praying very well. I’m so thankful the seed is being planted in their young hearts.
Today we had the opportunity to go to four bases where we sang
and testified. The 3rd base we went to was the police academy where all the future policemen of Honduras come to train. It's amazing that the Sumner's get the privilege to share the Gospel with every future policeman of Honduras! It was a big crowd and they loved singing "walking with the King" and "I have decided to follow Jesus". It was cool getting to hear them sing in English while we tried to sing in Spanish. At every base we go to you can feel the presence of the Lord there so strong. I'm thankful His presence is not confined to one area, but can move anywhere and everywhere. Bro. Aaron, while preaching, asked how many were converts and out of a couple hundred men, the majority raised their hands. Rachel Sumner told me that Hondurans were very honest about their faith and would not lie about it. All because a family sacrificed and labored they are now seeing results from their labor! I'm grateful for the opportunity given to me to minister to these military men and policemen. It sounded scary at first but The Lord has helped me so much and also my team. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for the rest of the SENT trip. We originally had a couple bases scheduled for today, but they called Bro. Alan and requested him to speak at a ceremony they were having for their firefighters. This time of season is really bad for mountain fires. They taught me how to say "hay un fuego" meaning "there's a fire!" And I say it quite often. The ceremony was nice, we got to meet the mayor of Danli, Bro. Alan did an excellent job speaking and praying over them. Just to think when they need someone to pray they know exactly who to call!
After the ceremony we went on back to the house where we would meet up with the other group (our group split into two groups and one went north and the other south) and be ready for church that night. The kids were so friendly at the church, they laughed as I attempted Spanish...and I confused myself a lot! At some point I confused them too...some of them knew how to say a few English words! We had an amazing move of the Spirit! During the song service all I could do was cry and praise the Lord and thank Him that His presence isn't just confined to one area but is moving everywhere! Several got a blessing. Bro. Aaron Gilles and Bro. Pahlman both preached and the Holy Spirit had laid similar things upon their hearts. Many got a blessing tonight, I was thankful for the opportunity to be able to pray with some. Though I didn't know their language, my God did and was already speaking to their hearts. I can't wait to see what all The Lord will do! The Lord is good and His mercy endureth forever! We left out at 5am and drove 5 hours and then got on boat for 15-20 minutes to go to the Navy base on Tiger Island. We sang, testified, and preached to the men. You could see tears in a couple of the soldiers’ eyes. The Holy Spirit was there helping us in a mighty way! I'm so thankful for His promise that He will never leave us nor forsake us. The next base we went to was the 11th battalion army base. Again, the Holy Spirit was there helping and strengthening us. Brother Aaron Gilles preached his heart and a young man gave his heart to the Lord! It was an awesome experience to have Brother Maxon with us. He travelled with our group and testified to the people. The traveling isn't the easiest! These roads are bumpy all over, especially in a bus. More than likely you're not going to get any sleep...unless you’re a Sumner. I looked around and saw Rachel, Ruthie and Rhoda asleep in their seats like nothing was happening while Katrina Freeman and I bounced all around. It was a great day and I can't wait until tomorrow to see what else the Lord will do‼!
