Today we painted the second coat on the tables at the soup kitchen and then painted the benches the guys had made. Tonight was the last service at the Sumner's church and it was bittersweet. The Lord moved in a great way as Lisa, Bethany, and Rachel testified and John and Bro. Pahlman preached. After the altar service the people in the church testified about how the Lord had helped them during the revival. I'll miss the people I got to meet at the church especially some of the girls in the youth group. The sincerity of the church people as they prayed and sought God around the altars was inspiring.
Today us girls, Bro. Pahlman, James, and Daniel went to the soup kitchen to scrub down, sand, and paint the tables. In between jobs we got to talk and play with the kids who live nearby the kitchen. It didn't take us long with everyone pitching in and helping out. After eating another awesome meal prepared by the Sumner ladies we headed to church where the Lord again blessed us. From the beginning to the end you could feel His presence dealing with people about accepting His will for their lives. As James preached people stepped out and made their way to the altar. I believe some dedications were made tonight and some lives were changed.
Today's theme was the Holy Ghost. The kids and adults got in the altar service after kids crusade this morning and at least one boy was filled with the Holy Ghost. It was amazing to see tears flowing down the faces of the people here as they sought after the Spirit of God. The youth service at night was also powerful. The Spirit of God fell as Elizabeth and Rachel sang and people flooded the altars. Bro. Hough then preached,as we were in the altars, about putting the devil under our feet. It was, in the true sense of the word, awesome. I am still continually amazed at how the Holy Ghost can break any barriers. As I was praying with a lady she turned to hug me and the Holy Ghost fell on both of us. As we stood there with our hands raised speaking in tongues it didn't matter that she spoke Spanish and I, English because we were both praising God in a heavenly tongue. The Lord has shown Himself so real to me over this trip and I'm so thankful.
Wow! What a day! We started off at the soup kitchen where the ladies made some awesome chicken soup for the kids. I loved serving them and singing the songs I knew and trying to do the motions for the ones I didn't know. We acted out the story of Nehemiah building the walls of Jerusalem and then we left for the Saturday schools where we did the Nehemiah skit also. The kids were so sweet and the women who host the schools were too. Then we headed to the church for the second night of kids crusade. Tonight's theme was "The Bible as our Sword" and the kids really got in. It was awesome to pray with them and even though I couldn't understand them I know that there were several who really prayed. After the kids finished praying we prayed for the women who run the Saturday Schools and the Lord came down and blessed them. Before the kids got on the bus several of the girls came over to tell me adios and kissed me goodbye. It was so sweet to interact with them even if all I could do was introduce myself. Tomorrow is our last kids crusade service in the morning and then in the evening we start youth revival.
We started off the day with a service at a police station and Bro. Jacob did a great job preaching and relating his testimony to the officers. Tonight was also the first night of kids crusade and it was good to interact with the kids. Everyone did awesome in the skits and I pray that we got the message across that its important to turn your life over to the Captain, Jesus (played by Bro. Pahlman) in order to succeed. Tomorrows going to be another super busy day but I'm looking forward to it.
Looking up at the Honduran mountains this morning I was reminded of Lamentations 3:22,23 and how the Lord's mercies are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness! The Lord blessed us during the first service with His presence as we sang about His blood and how He is our hope. After service the colonel spoke to us, telling us he has been privileged to be a part of two armies, a colonel on the Honduran army and a soldier in the Lord's army and he would give up everything to be in the Lord's army. I was so humbled as he told us he had prayed for years for God to send His servants to speak of His love and his prayer was answered today. He said that wherever he was it was open to the gospel and to us. We then headed back to Danli, stopping at a roadside stand and getting fresh coconut then on down the road for fish - with the heads still on them. The entire SENT team is together again and we are looking forward to everything else the Lord has in store.
The Lord moved so mightily today in the services and especially at the air force academy. Bro. Hough preached about being free from the body of death and conviction fell. 12 men stepped forward for salvation. While I love the food and new experiences the services are what I will remember forever about Honduras.
Our first full day in Honduras is nearly over. Admittedly, I'm exhausted but I've loved every minute of it. We, the north team, headed out at 4 this morning and held five services at military and police bases. Seeing the soldiers and police officers get in with the songs and even laugh at our attempts at Spanish was awesome. The guys did great preaching and I could tell that the men and women were moved. You could see the pain in some of their eyes as we talked about how the love of God could reach down and save everyone, no matter what they had done. We primarily focused on the power of the blood today and how His blood can transform us and make us new. I can't wait to see what tomorrow holds!
I can't believe I'm finally in Honduras. It still doesn't seem real. When I could see the edge of Honduras from the plane, tears came to my eyes and I was reminded of the verse in 1 Thessalonians 5:24, "Faithful is he that calleth you,who also will do it." Already, through the plane trip and the few hours we have been here I have been overwhelmed by Gods faithfulness. The fears and worries I had about the trip are gone and I feel such a love and burden for the people here. As 1 John 4:18 says, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear:" I can't wait to see what God has in store for the SENT team this year and I am so honored to be a part of it.
