Our last full day was a good day of work and fun. We deep cleaned the church and worked at the house and the new school. It was hard work, but with everyone working it was soon finished. I got a Creole lesson from some of the girls, and overall the team had a fun afternoon.
Today was a good day and we spent most of the day touring Port-Au-Prince; it certainly did have some more interesting moments, most of which involved bartering with shopkeepers and breaking down in downtown, in the middle of traffic. We made it to the Iron Market where we did the majority of our shopping. We eventually piled into the bed of the truck, and headed up the mountain; we were all grateful that it got cooler as we climbed. The view of Port-Au-Prince, the Mountains and the Caribbean Sea was breathtaking. Bro Lloyd gave us a tour from the top.
Today was our last day of kid’s crusades. It is absolutely unbelievable that the trip has gone by so quickly. The Lord has really moved and touched hearts in the services. I don’t think anyone on the team is ready for the trip to end in only two days, including myself. We have become good friends with many of the children, even though I sometimes forget who speaks English, and who speaks Creole only. Over the last few services, we had spent more time praying with either visitors or church people; tonight I had the opportunity to pray with some of the girls from the Lloyds home. We are all praying that they will have a desire for more of God and be filled with the Holy Ghost. God has been good to us this trip, and it isn’t over yet, I believe that He still has more to do in the coming days.
This morning Haiti was a little bit cooler than usual, which made for a beautiful day. We enjoyed playing with the kids for a while before we started our second day of crusades. The teens were first; they were extremely excited about the games, they all seemed to really enjoy it. At the altar service there were several people who prayed and seemed to be touched by the skit. The kid’s crusade, in the afternoon was equally fun, though some of the games were a little bit tamer than the morning crowd.
Today was a busy one. We began with the morning prayers that take place at seven, and at ten we began our teen crusade and at two we began the kids crusade. Both of them went well, and by night service some of the children were exhausted.
Today was a wonderful day of services and fun. Church started bright and early this morning at eight o’clock; Katherine and I taught Sunday school on “The Gift of God” to the teenage class, Richard was our translator and did an excellent job. His translating flowed so smoothly, at times I almost forgot he was translating. Brother Pahlman preached on “the Beauty of the Cross”. The Lord worked in the altar service and one young man came forward to pray for salvation.
We arrived in Haiti around one o’clock and were met by Bro. Lloyd and a few of the boys from their home. We were all excited to be here, and equally excited to meet the children once we got to their house. The work they do is truly amazing. They have two children’s homes, a church, and a school that they are expanding. Their burden for the work and the people of Haiti is obvious. We enjoyed getting to know them.
