We had a very productive work day today. The Sumner’s have a tremendous kid’s kitchen right down the road from their house, and they’ve been wanting to paint the tables for a few months, so today we got to do just that for them. The children that come to this school come from extremely poor homes, so I like to think that the new colors will brighten some child’s heart. It was a blessing.
We had a great continuation of the kids crusade today. With a lot of good games and memory verses in between, our Bible story and skit this morning focused on Judgment. The Bible story was an illustrated message of Noah and the skit, which was last, was about a righteous young man and an unrighteous young woman that died and stood before God at Judgment. I felt the Lord really trying to convict hearts and I believe there was some seed that fell on good ground. Tonight, there was a big crowd of about 200. We did more games, memory verses, and skits on keeping God first and the call of God. One young girl in particular was in tears as the Lord moved upon her, and several adults that needed the Lord came forward for prayer as well. Great day of child evangelism!
I had a wonderful time ministering to many, many children today. We traveled to four different places and performed a skit on Joshua and the battle at Jericho. They absolutely loved it and Bro. Scott did a tremendous job at summarizing the story and tying it all into a salvation message at the end. This evening, the Lord helped us perform three more skits at a kids’ crusade. You have to just naturally love the sweet and innocent response of a child to the simple Gospel message given in a way that they can understand. Although I wouldn’t consider myself a child evangelist, I saw a great need in the eyes of every last one of those little hearts
We started today off at a military service in Danli. The Lord really helped me as I preached on “Three Detours on the Road to Heaven”. After I preached, I handed it straight back to Bro. Scott because he told me we were under time constraint, but the Spirit of conviction was moving so mightily that he decided to give an altar call and six people came forward. Three men, three women, one of which was in tears as we prayed for her. It thrilled my heart so much to see such brokenness from a sinner. It’s something I don’t see very often preaching to so many gospel-hardened people in America. Throughout the day, I enjoyed getting to walk around downtown Donli with Bro. Scott and the others. At one point, I went with him to the church because he needed to meet a man there for some business. I ended up helping shovel some dirt and rocks on the road in front of the church for speed bumps their trying to get built. Giving my time and effort for that little project was very fulfilling. It truly is more blessed to give than to receive. Later on at the youth revival, we had such a powerful move of the Holy Ghost! The singing, testifying, and the first message by Bro. Daniel was all great, but what really broke through was the message God gave Bro. Brock to preach, which was about Elijah’s mantle. Not since I’ve been in Bible school have I seen so many young people crying out to God for a fresh burden for the work of God! It was truly amazing!! It felt so awesome to see God stirring young Honduran people to carry on the vision that God started in Bro. Jake Sumner. God did great things today.
We left the hotel around 7:30 this morning. We didn’t go to any military services because we had to be back at a certain time for youth revival and we had a long drive ahead of us, but it wasn’t too long as we enjoyed a good time of fellowship on the road. Bro. Scott stopped us off at a giant cave which was a pretty interesting tour, but it was really hot down there, so I came out soaked in sweat. After we cooled off, we hit the road and got back to the Sumner’s around five. Service started at 7, and my, was it a great one! After the singing, testifying and preaching, God helped me tremendously with a few battles I had been facing in my own life. Sometimes preachers minister so much that they forget to get ministered to! After God had strengthened and helped me, I had a great time of intercession with a man earnestly seeking God in the altar. I thank God for mightily working, not only through me, but in me today.
We lead three services and visited two wounded soldiers in the hospital today. Bro. Daniel preached the first service about the need to surrender to a Holy God. I preached the second service about being a good soldier of Jesus Christ. I thought it would be fitting at a military base :) After that, we went to the hospital. There was an older gentleman that we got to pray with, that Bro. Scott gave the salvation message too. The other was a young man that tried to commit suicide, but God graciously spared his life. He went on to tell us that he responded to God's grace by repenting and calling on the Lord. At the next service Bro. Brock preached a great message about the 10 virgins. Almost every last one of the soldiers came forward for prayer. After God moved amongst us in such a sweet and powerful way, both the general and a soldier testified about the goodness of the Lord. I feel like great things were accomplished for eternity today.
It was a great day of ministry. Leaving at 4:30 a.m. and finishing the day around 6:30 p.m., we were able to lead five military services in various parts of the north side of the country. Everyone got to sing and testify, all of which was very anointed. Bro. Brock and I preached two services and Bro. Daniel preached once. He did exceptionally well for his first time preaching in a foreign country. The greatest service, however, was our fourth one, where Bro. Brock preached deliverance to many captives who came forward for prayer at the end. Approximately 30 I'd say. To God be the glory for all of it.
