Day 15

3/11/2016

In Atlanta at last!  So far It has been a good trip. We fly out at 10:15 for Pittsburgh and it is 8:00 right now.

It might be the last time to see Honduras but both trips I took changed my life. I found out I love culture and language and flying and preaching to people of a different nationality.  Thank you, Lord!

Day 14

3/10/2016

This was our free day today. We made sandwiches and went to a lake which was about 30 minutes away. We played bean toss, volleyball and croquet.

It has been a good two weeks. God is good and has furthered my burden for my ministry to work with North Koreans. I want to pattern my ministry after the Sumners. There are two types of ministers - some ministers love their ministry, others love their people. I have found that those who love the ministry are more focused on their ministry than on people but those who love their people automatically minister to people as they are filled with the Spirit of God. I want to be the latter.

Day 13

3/9/2016

Today was difficult. We left at 4:45am to do five services today in the capital Tegucigalpa.  I had a hard time waking up but Espresso Americano (coffee) really was delicious.

The last two services allowed us to split up the men and women. Charity and Kayln spoke to the women and both did a great job. It was later in the day so the women were really tired when they sat down but I believe God touched their hearts.

Day 12

3/8/2016

(Kids Crusade Nights -Sunday morning, Sunday night, Monday night and Tuesday night)

The themes for each night were salvation, the Holy Ghost, the call of God and Commitment to the call.  I was the Mad Scientist that sneaked around causing trouble and then I also taught the scripture verses and did the games that went with them.

We had a good response from the people and one backslider got saved. Last year no one seemed to respond to the messages about the call of God but this year they really did. The church seemed to have grown spiritually. I felt like crying when it was all over.

Day 12

3/8/2016

Some went to town today. They also put a roof on for a lady who needed It. I stayed home and helped make supper.

Kids crusade was good tonight. I brought in the mad scientist again.  God laid it on my heart to finish the game and memory verse time by telling them to say the name Jesus when they were scared or afraid. Even demons flee when we say the name of Jesus.

Day 11

3/7/2016

We took it easy today. After two services yesterday, it was nice to have breakfast at ten o'clock.  We relaxed the rest of the day.

During the kids crusade I did the memory verse and memory verse game. Dressing up as the mad scientist I snuck around and stole the memory verse cards as the kids were reciting them. They loved it!

Day 9

3/5/2016

We did a Bible lesson for four different groups of street kids today. Sister Lisa did her Bible story the first Saturday we were here. It was about Esther and the kids loved the skit that went with it. She did a good job. Today she had me do a Bible story and it was on the call of Moses and his life having a purpose. I presented the Gospel message at the end.

We went into a public school for the first time for the Sumners and it was wonderful to do it for about 200 kids.

Day 7

3/3/2016

Today's services went well. We had three - each at a military base near the border of Guatemala.

Sister Lisa and I were able to speak to the women twice today. Each of us got a service. The other base did not have women there so Sister Lisa testified.

We had one service with the women where the altar call was powerful. One women especially was reaching out to God with tears streaming down and the Spirit was moving upon her. Some of the others were crying as well. I pray God continues to work in each life. Thank you Jesus!

Day 6

3/2/2016

The military preaching went well today. About ten men at one base received Bibles from Bro. Scott. They had asked for some earlier and were really excited to get them on this trip. Several men on the base were already Christians.

We met the high commander over many of the bases today. He is head over the bases surrounding the town San Pedro-the second worst city in the world. It used to be the first. It was known as the murder capital of the world. By the way we're staying in a hotel in this city for two nights. Exciting!

The commander was a very humble man and kept saying how thankful for us and the work of the Sumner's in bringing God to them all. He said, "It shows us the right way and we greatly appreciate that you come here."

Sister Lisa preached to a group of military women and God really touched the girls. One girl came up for prayer and was crying before the Lord. She was the one girl who did not seem interested but ended up being touched the most. Sis. Lisa and I try to speak in relation to the pressures they feel as women among men in a military setting with all the temptations and insecurities that they face. I can't imagine all their struggles.

It's been a good day. God is good.

Day 5

3/1/2016

We had five services in the police and military bases.  One had about 50-100 men and the presence of the Lord was so strong. 17 came to the altar for salvation. As we prayed with them the Holy Ghost was so strong that they wouldn't leave the altar. They just stood there with their hands raised.  I wanted to cry afterwards. It was so dear to my heart.

The next service had about 1000 to 1500 men and women. We had to cut the service short and couldn't do a full altar call but several raised their hands for salvation.

We have a small team going to the north this year. Bro. Scott Sumner and his daughter Elisabeth are the translators. Bro. Anthony Moody preaches and Lisa Peretic and I testify. However, there is a new opportunity this year. Some of the bases will allow Bro. Scott to split up the men and women for the preaching time and Sister Lisa and I will get to minister to them.

Lisa was able to speak to the women at this last base of 1000-1500 but because there were so many and we only had one microphone we kept them all together. She spoke before the main preaching service and did a great job!

The fourth military base had about 16 woman that we where able to speak to. I taught on Mary crying at Jesus feet and then sitting at Jesus' feet. Both times she was criticized-once for her repentance and again for sitting at his feet. Both times Jesus spoke up for her. Mary had found her security in Christ. I called it "When Jesus speaks up for you."

The women were crying and several came up for prayer. To think that God gave me this very first opportunity in Honduras to preach to woman alone blows my mind. To let them know that God wants to be their Father awoke such a renewed desire in me to teach young women. It renewed my call and burden for young women.  I had not realized the pressures that young military women faced as I saw their tears. I knew that they wanted to cry and pour themselves out but the toughness of military life has built walls. I only wish I could minister to them on a weekly basis and see those walls fall. I know they would get filled with the Holy Ghost.
