Day 12

3/13/2015

Bittersweet would be the way I would describe today. In some ways it was good to be going home, but then again I was leaving a major piece of my heart in Honduras. It has been such a good time here. The Lord has helped us so much and has really touched me personally. From the military bases and academies, to the kids crusade and youth revival, God has really done amazing things. I hope to visit again sometime soon! What has really made this trip is the Sumner family themselves, seeing their burden and hard work has really challenged me. It's not easy what they do, but when God is in it, He always makes a way. I'll probably miss riding the bus to pick up the church people and kids for church the most. I loved seeing their faces when they saw the bus pulling up. Even though I couldn't speak Spanish and there was limited communication, it still didn't hold us back from being friends with everyone. It didn't hold us back in the services either.  Though there were two different languages, the Spirit is always the same.

Day 11

3/12/2015

We visited Valley of the Angels today for souvenirs, it's a beautiful little tourist spot on the mountain about 2 hours from Danli. When we got back to the house later that afternoon Bro. Alan and Bro. Scott got the airplane ready for us to take a ride in. I got to sit in the front with Bro. Alan, as he explained to me how everything works, etc. He then let go of the steering wheel and said,  "Oh no, we're going down!  What do you need to do?" For a moment I thought he was joking, but he really wanted me to steer the plane. So I grabbed the wheel and made the plane go back up and he replied, "Thank you so much, you just saved our lives!!!" I'm thankful it was all in good fun because if I really had to maneuver the plane we probably would've crashed. We ate curry for supper then afterwards we gathered in the living room for a time of songs and devotion. We sang several songs and then Bro. Jake Sumner gave a devotion about "following the will of God". There was a very sweet presence of the Lord--I'm thankful that no matter where you are He's always with us.

Day 10

3/11/2015

Today we all joined together and visited 4 military bases and academies in Tegucigalpa.  At the second one we got to attend the language school they have at one of their bases. They could only speak English while they were there, and if anyone happened to say a Spanish word they would have to pay two lempiras to their teacher. We sang "I have decided to follow Jesus" and "If you say go" and Lisa and I testified.  It was strange not having an interpreter after having one all week. Afterwards, the military men came and practiced their English with us. They all did very well, except for one who accidentally used a Spanish word but we said we wouldn't tell, haha! At the last two academies we decided to do our Mephibosheth skit for them--they absolutely loved it! We ended the day with my favorite place to eat, the "meat plate place" (it doesn't have an official name).

Day 9

3/10/2015

We spent the day working at the soup kitchen, we sanded and repainted the tables and benches, and the guys welded some of the iron work.

Tonight was also our last night of the youth revival, Bro. Pahlman preached on "Fighting for your Freedom". We had a good response in the altars. I felt like some young people finally broke through.

Day 8

3/9/2015

Tonight was the second night of the youth revival. Bro. Ashton preached to the young people about waking up and accepting the call God has given them. Several young people really cried and pressed in.

Day 7

3/8/2015

Sunday morning we had our last part of the kids crusade and it was sad to see it come to an end because we had such a great time. Sunday night we started our first night of the youth revival. Bro. Jacob preached on "Wounded in the House of the Lord" and several prayed very good. We have two more nights of the youth revival and we're expecting God to do greater things!

Day 6

3/7/2015

We enjoyed putting on a skit about Mephibosheth at 5 Saturday schools, and also at the soup kitchen. We served yuca (a root, tasted like potato) for the kids and they loved it. It was also our second night of kids crusade and we had an amazing response in the altars. Bro. Alan said we had about 208, not including the SENT team.

Day 5

3/6/2015

We only had one police base today, but we also had to prepare for the kids crusade that night. After the base service, one group went to the church to set up and the other went shopping with Sis. Brenda Sumner for groceries for the soup kitchen. The first night of the kids crusade went great! We had a good response in the altars!

Day 3

3/4/2015

We started  our morning at the Cobras (the Honduran SWAT team) where we had our first service. After service we were invited to eat breakfast and it was the first time I have ever had oatmeal as a drink. We all enjoyed it very much!! We went to 3 more bases that day and had some good responses. I'm thankful for God's hand of protection on us as we travel all through the south of Honduras.

Day 2

3/3/2015

We left the hotel early this morning and headed out for our first base. Riding with Sis. Paula has been an experience! She had no problem keeping up with Bro. Alan in the vehicle ahead of us. Honduran driving is nothing like American driving....nothing! Not only are you dodging dogs, cats, chickens, and horses...but also other cars, semis, and people!!

We were able to visit 4 of the bases today. We all testified and sang, and Jacob Vaughn preached. At the last base on Tiger Island, Jacob Vaughn preached along the lines of  the wickedness of man and how the creation will view himself as higher than the Creator. Not only is God love, but He is also Holiness. At the end, around 10 navy recruits raised their hands to ask Jesus into their hearts. I'm so thrilled with what God is beginning to do here in Honduras. We're expecting great things this week!
