Well, today I was officially introduced to Honduras! We left the house at 4:30am with Bro. Scott Sumner to visit five different military bases in the north. On the way we saw some of the prettiest scenery; the mountains are gorgeous. Our first service went well. This is where I got to testify for the first time with an interpreter; interesting to say the least. God helped me so much. Bro. Brock preached about the prophets of Baal and Elijah on Mt. Carmel. He then told them that God was willing to show that He was the true God. He then asked if there was anyone that doubted that God was real and two came forward and we prayed for them. On a lighter note at this base there were these three sheep. They would wander all around. I am not crazy about them myself, but they sure seemed to like me. They followed us around and then the soldiers would drag them away. It was hilarious.
We then made our next stop to the artillery academy; we had about 15 soldiers here. Bro. Chris LePelley preached, about repentance with a burden. From here we got to eat lunch. Lisa and I then went to the restroom and in there this woman that kept trying to speak to me in Spanish and I would just stand there and smile. She kept talking and I kept smiling. Eventually she looked at me and said. “No Spanish?” I shook my head no, and she gave me this look of disbelief. So once again, I just smiled.
Then from there we went to Agricultural Cedace. I also got the chance to testify here. I felt the Lord in a mighty way. I talked about how even though you may not see God or even believe He is real, He is there. He knows your name and cares about you and wants to visit you. Bro. Daniel gave a message about God’s love.
The fourth place we stopped was the one that stuck out to me the most. It was at the Naval Academy. Bro. Brock was once again preaching and he preached on deliverance from drugs, alcohol and lust. He spoke his heart and when he was giving the altar call you could feel the conviction. He made sure they realized the seriousness of their decision, before coming to the altar, and yet over 30 came down. I saw them praying with tears running down their face. I felt God so near. It was amazing that even though I could not understand their prayers or Bro. Scott’s exhortation at the end, I felt the presence of God. We hear it said so many times that God is the same everywhere but I have never experienced that fact for myself. It is difficult not being able to communicate with them directly or understand what is going on, yet to know that God does is incredible. I may not know their need but He does.
The final stop was to an Engineering Battalion. Here we sang our Spanish song with them singing along which was awesome. Bro. Chris preached again this time about being potential royalty or possessing your royalty in the family of God. Bro. Scott’s heart is seen at each stop as he takes time to talk with the soldiers and especially through his prayers at the end. He is a man of God that is being used in a mighty way.
