I was chosen to go on the South Team with Bro. Alan Sumner, and we started our day at 2 A.M. and hit the road at 3 A.M.! Our first destination was with the police and it was my first time preaching with an interpreter. Service went wonderful and several asked to be prayed with. We continued our journey from there to the Honduran artillery division where John did a good job preaching, and I got my first encounter in Honduras with the song we have all heard so much about “Walking with the King” as Ruthie lead the soldiers in singing it. We then went to one more Army service before heading to Tiger Island. Wow! What a beautiful sight it is. The boat ride over was surreal experience and I will treasure my time on the island for a lifetime. The service at the Naval base there was exceptionally good. John preached an awesome message about God’s desire to help His people and you could tell the message really sunk in with them. Afterwards their Frigate Captain Vasquez got up and spoke to us about how much they appreciate us coming to bring the Word of God to them, and it was then that it really hit home how big of an impact the Sumner’s work was having here. To be able to be a part of this work even in this small way is a very humbling honor. From there, we took on a tour of the island and we stopped on a beautiful beach, and Bro. Alan took us all to an adjacent bat cave. Watching the bats flutter around was really surreal and was almost something out of a pirate book. Lisa even had a “bat” fly into her hair! Haha! You should ask her about it...just make sure that you do it when I’m not around ;) With the day completed we headed back to Tegucigalpa to pick up Bro. Pahlman, and then for the “Grand Finish” of the day we stopped and got a “meat plate. Sigh... Words cannot describe the meat plate... It is truly one of the finest meals I’ve ever eaten!
