Wow! Talk about a busy day...first on the agenda was the soup kitchen. Now, the soup kitchen was a vision of Bro Jake Sumner, and it feeds around 200 kids and their mothers each Saturday. The kids get to sing songs and learn about God before they eat their meal. It is always a great privilege to help here. The kids are so sweet and they will tease you, play games with you, and laugh at your Spanish. Bro Hough and Daniel were quite popular this Saturday, giving "airplane rides" and letting the kids climb all over them. The kids loved the Nehemiah Skit we did, and overall it was a great time at the soup kitchen.
Our next three services were at the Saturday Schools. These are kids services in different neighborhoods in Danli. Three of the sisters from the church got a burden to minister to the kids in their neighborhood, and each is doing an excellent job reaching them. We did the Nehemiah Skit here as well, and the kids loved seeing Sissy and Rachel pelted with water balloons and seeing them get scared half to death. However, Jacob was supposed to be a beast Sanballat and Tobias used to distract the Israelites from building the wall back up. He wore a monkey mask and black robe, and ran down the aisles hollering. Well, this scared a lot of the little kids. One two year old was in tears....poor thing! But overall the skit went really well.
Saturday was the second night of the kid’s crusade, and it went great! Goliath came out again and challenged the Lord's Army. The recruits tried to fight Goliath with swords, but got defeated. The sergeants explained that we could win against Goliath if we used the real sword, the Bible. John refused, and when we went into battle again, he got captured. We played some games and saw the kids try to put together towers made of marshmallow and spaghetti and try to put bananas back together with toothpicks and rubber bands. Pretty funny! Katherine and Elizabeth did a very funny skit about how we have to apply the Bible for it to work. We ended the night with a continuation of the first skit, and John was able to break out of jail by using the Word.
If the night had ended there, all would have been just fine. But God had other plans. Bro Scott asked if there was anyone that wanted prayer, and about ten women came up. The Spirit of The Lord came down in that place so strong. There is a three year old girl named Mellie in the church that has polyps in her intestines, and her mother brought her up for prayer. As I knelt down and put my hand on her stomach and prayed, I felt The Lord come by in a mighty way. Another woman brought up her little boy who was just diagnosed with parasites. Each woman said she felt The Lord had done something special for them that night. It was a great altar service!
