Leaving/Arriving
Excitement was at its highest as 15 faculty and students headed on our much anticipated trip to Honduras. We arrive at the airport and went through the routine of checking us all in, we had no problems. Quickly we arrived at the gate. We met other missionaries who would be going to Honduras and fling the same flight, they were a team going to build a bridge. So all seemed well until we found out Bro. Pahlman would not be meeting us in Atlanta, and would not be able to join us in Honduras until Tuesday! The Lord is in control. We left the USA and in a few hours would be at our destination. Heather and Alison had never flown and we were anxious to see their reaction. They both did wonderful!
We landed safely in Honduras!!!! We made it through customs and the Sumners were waiting on us. We got our luggage and headed to the big city. I was pleasantly surprised to see so many American signs reminding me of home. Burger King, McDonalds, etc. I almost thought we hadn’t really left the USA until you read the signs around them and they were all in Spanish!
I even got to see Wal-Mart in Honduras!! Looks pretty much the same, the produce isle was my favorite, seeing many vegetables I have never seen!!
We arrived at the Sumner’s house and had a wonderful meal. Time to settle down then up bright and early to leave at three am.
